Spurs player is ‘very comfortable’ and wants to stay at the club ‘long-term’ – Journalist

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Timo Werner is thought to be ‘very comfortable’ at Tottenham Hotspur and would like to make his stay there permanent in the summer.

Spurs shocked the transfer market in January when they signed Timo Werner on a six-month loan deal, with the move seemingly coming out of nowhere.

With Heung-min Son away at the Asian Cup through January and part of February, Werner ended up being an important member of Ange Postecoglou‘s squad.

The 28-year-old has two goals and two assists to his name so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The topic of Werner’s future at Spurs is a hot one, with journalist Dean Jones suggesting it would be a ‘no brainer’ to keep hold of the player. Meanwhile, sources at Football Insider believe Spurs have not made up their mind on the matter yet.

What is the latest on Timo Werner’s situation at Spurs?

One person who does appear to be sure on the matter is Werner himself. Sky Sports Germany journalist, Florian Plettenberg, has the latest on the situation, with Werner believed to be keen to stick around at Spurs.

Plettenberg tweeted: “Timo Werner feels very comfortable at Spurs and would like to stay long-term. The option to buy of around €17m must be activated by the start of the EUROs at the latest.

“A future at RB Leipzig is unlikely for either side. Contract is valid until 2026. If Tottenham does not permanently sign him, Werner very open to leave Leipzig in the summer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised Timo Werner wants to stay at Tottenham. His career with Leipzig is obviously over, and he seems to be enjoying himself at Spurs. It will all come down to these next ten games and the impact he can have for Spurs.
