Spurs player of the season candidate makes brutal assessment of his own ability

Last season, Spurs fans moaned and groaned if Moussa Sissoko was introduced from the bench, this season, fans scratch their heads when he doesn’t start.

Such has been the transformation of the Frenchman, Tottenham now find it extremely difficult to cope without him.

Dropping back into a central midfield role, Sissoko now picks up the ball, finds a pass, or drives through the ranks with it himself.

He is also extremely handy at winning tackles and interceptions, as well as helping out his right back in their defensive duties.

Sissoko has by far been Tottenham’s most consistent performer this season, and will surely compete with Heung Min Son for the team’s player of the year.

However, the midfield man is not one to let his performances go to his head, as he gave a brutally honest assessment of his own ability this week after yet another fine game against Man City.

He said (RMC Sport): “I am happy with my match, I was very good I think, like the rest of the team. I am happy for me, I have come a long way.

“I have had two difficult seasons here, I have continued to work.

“I know that I am not the most technical player, the best player in the world, but I play with the qualities that I have. I have never taken myself to be someone I am not.”
