Spurs Player Ratings vs Liverpool

Wilson Palacios - Header

Heurelho Gomes (6) – Why oh why do keepers rush out like that?

Vedran Corluka (8) – Top class, unruffled performance. Had Babel in his ample back pocket giving him plenty of time support Lennon.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto (8) – Excellent game given that he was up against two internationals in Kuyt and Johnson and what a goal!

Ledley King (8) – It’s like getting the Rolls out for a spin. Superb comedy moment when he accidentally tripped Torres in the first half prompting some Spanish handbags.

Sebastien Bassong (8) – A debut verging on the faultless and a cracking goal. Woodgate will have taken notice.

Aaron Lennon (6) – Unusually ineffective I thought. Never took Insua on on the outside. Was double teamed a lot with Babel tracking back.

Luka Modric (7) – Classy and creative as usual but too often marginal to the action rather than central. Nice free kick for Bassong’s goal.

Tom Huddlestone (7) – Good performance overall. One lovely long ball to Lennon in the first half that would be great if it became a trademark. Faded in the last ten, appeared a bit knackered, gave the ball away needlessly a few times.

Wilson Palacios (8) – Man of the match for me. Disciplined, powerful and skilful. Only complaint is that he also gave the ball away towards the end with a few fanny touches.

Robbie Keane (6) – Showed himself a lot and was available to receive the ball from midfield but really should have scored. Appeared more like his old self than he has done of late.

Jermain Defoe (6) – Fought manfully but very rarely came out on top in the battle of little v large. Good effort with one header from a corner. Like everyone, worked his socks off.
