Spurs player responds to West Ham forward’s London derby challenge

With the Premier League and the Football League being temporarily suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus, Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon and West Ham United’s Michail Antonio have thought of an alternative way to play a London derby.

Spurs were scheduled to take on West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week before the fixture was suspended.

While the game is always a big one for both clubs, this could have been an especially crucial derby match with Spurs needing three points to stay in the race for the fourth spot while the Hammers are attempting to stay in the division.

Antonio took to social media to issue an open challenge to Spurs players on FIFA this week and Sessegnon was quick to respond to the forward who scored at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season to give the Hammers the win in North London.

The pair then exchanged a couple of more light-hearted barbs on social media before agreeing to play.

It is unknown if the game went ahead or what the score was it looks the players are certainly finding alternatives ways of being entertained during their downtime.

The home quarantine can get especially challenging for players who are used to being out on the pitch everyday as well as for fans for whom cheering their side on every weekend has become a tradition. Let’s hope the situation is resolved quickly and doesn’t drag on for too much longer.
