Spurs player sends message of support to injured Arsenal forward

Tottenham Hotspur right wing-back Emerson Royal has sent a message of support on social media to his international team-mate Gabriel Jesus.

The Arsenal forward sustained medial knee ligament damage during Brazil’s World Cup group stage defeat to Cameroon last week and has had to undergo surgery in a bid to repair the injury.

ESPN sources have claimed that the 25-year-old is expected to be out of action for around three months, which would rule him out of the north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which is set to take place a matter of weeks into the second half of the Premier League campaign on January 15th.

Royal, who has seven caps for Brazil (transfermarkt) was overlooked for the tournament in Qatar by coach Tite.

The Spurs defender took to Instagram to send his well-wishes to the former Manchester City forward by commenting on a post left by Jesus and said: “Get well soon mlk.” Mlk is a Portuguese word which translates to ‘kid’ or ‘boy’.

The Brazilian contingent appear to be a tight-knit bunch of players, and it is certainly a bonus for Spurs that Jesus will be missing for the north London derby considering the problems he caused at the Emirates earlier in the season.

The Gunners may have topped the table heading into Qatar, but now face the pressure of holding onto the top spot without their star forward.
