Spurs player takes to Twitter to reveal he has Covid ahead of Man City clash

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has taken to Twitter to confirm he is absent from today’s Premier League match at Manchester City due to Covid.

The Spanish international’s name was nowhere to be seen on the Tottenham team-sheet and two minutes after it was published on the club’s official Twitter account, he also took to the social networking platform to confirm he was positive.

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte confirmed at yesterday’s pre-match press conference that one of his players was going to miss the clash at the Etihad due to the virus but stopped short of naming the player affected (Football.London).

Conte has named Ryan Sessegnon as left wing-back this afternoon with the Italian unable to call upon the services of the former Real Madrid player.

Sessegnon will be hoping that he has a longer spell on the pitch this afternoon after he was brought off in the first half of Spurs’ loss at home to Wolves last week with Conte deciding on a tactical change to try and get back into the match.

Tottenham have a policy of not naming any players who have picked up Covid and instead prefer for the player to decide whether or not they divulge the information.

Some Spurs sleuths on social media had speculated whether it was indeed Regulon after he was not spotted in training on Friday.
