Spurs player wins trophy out on loan and impresses with performance in final

Cameron Carter-Vickers has won the Scottish League Cup with Celtic after helping the Bhoys to a 2-1 win over Hibernian on Sunday.

Carter-Vickers is having an impressive campaign on loan at Celtic Park, having established himself as a mainstay in Ange Postecoglou’s backline.

According to reports, Celtic have to pay £10m to sign the central defender on a permanent basis from Spurs. If the USA international keeps performing the same way he has over recent months, the Scottish giants will surely be tempted to take up the option.

The 23-year-old completed 90 minutes in the final at Hampden Park as Celtic came back from a goal down to beat Hibernian.

Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi scored both of Celtic’s goals, with his winner coming in the 72nd minute.

Football Scotland gave Carter-Vickers a rating of 7/10 for his performance and wrote about the Tottenham man’s display in the final: “Really composed at the back and seems to be in the right place at right time more often than not. Won all his headers and snuffed out Nisbet threat.”

Joe Hart, was joined Celtic from Spurs in the summer, also started in goal for Postecoglou’s side and the former England goalkeeper made a key save in injury time to seal the cup win for his side.

Spurs Web Opinion

The curse of players winning trophies after leaving Spurs continues. In all seriousness, I am pleased for both Carter-Vickers and Hart, and I believe Spurs would be able to get a decent fee for the USA international in the summer even if Celtic do not activate the £10m option.
