Spurs player withdraws from England squad

Tottenham Hotspur have yet another injury to add to their growing list as BBC report Kieran Trippier has pulled out of the upcoming England international squad.

Trippier was called up to be part of the squad, including Wayne Rooney, to take on USA and Croatia in the next week.

The Spurs defender sustained a groin injury early on in the Premier League win against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Trippier hobbled off the pitch to be replaced by Serge Aurier, but reappeared at half time to watch the rest of the match.

The player actually reported to St Georges Park for England duty on Monday, but was sent home.

The fact that he turned up to the squad implies the injury isn’t serious.

Spurs fans will be hoping this is just precautionary, with a key crunch match against unbeaten Chelsea coming up straight after the international break.

Trippier has been suffering with some iffy form since his return from the World Cup, and will be hoping to avoid a lengthy lay out.
