Report: No training session held for Tottenham’s first-team today

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has revealed that Tottenham have allowed their players a day off from training today with the plan for the first-team squad to report back to Hotspur Way on Thursday and Friday.

Football has ground to a halt as authorities around the world work to curb the spread of COVID-19 but Tottenham are continuing to train amidst the crisis.

Kilpatrick revealed earlier that Spurs were the only club in London to still continue training amidst the shutdown.

Football Insider reported on Tuesday that Jose Mourinho is continuing to get the players ready for a possible return to action next month.

They claimed that the club might be forced to call abandon their plans to continue training after UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, warned against mass gatherings but the Lilywhites are yet to enforce the advice (BBC).

Kilpatrick also reports that the club’s plans might change depending on the decisions emerging from the meeting between the Government and the Premier League tomorrow.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can understand why Jose will want to use the time to get some ideas across as he’s hardly had any time to work with the squad on the training ground since he’s arrived, with games every couple of days. However, I believe the club must do the sensible thing and exercise caution by calling off training, and following the government guidelines.
