How the Spurs players rated vs Manchester United

Hugo Lloris – 6 – The Frenchman was surprisingly uninvolved for most of the game. He played his sweeper keeper role very well and his distribution was better than usual.

Kieran Trippier – 7 – He started the game a bit shaky against Sanchez but grew into the game. He bombed down the flank to provide an attacking option and played a few nice passes in the attacking third. His wicked cross was turned in by Phil Jones for Tottenham’s second.

Jan Vertonghen – 8 – A brilliant performance from the Belgian as he not only kept Lukaku and the rest of the United’s attack at bay, but also looked very good on the ball, often starting attacks.

Davinson Sanchez – 8 – Another strong performance from the young Colombian as he was physical, silky and confident all game long. He did not let the United attackers even sniff a chance which was very impressive considering the quality of players he was up against.

Ben Davies – 7 – A typically solid performance from a player who looks set to keep Rose on the bench. He did not get beaten at all down the left side by Martial and he was always an option down the pitch.

Eric Dier – 7 – He was mostly unseen throughout the game which is a testament to his performance. He sat in front of his defence and provided needed protection. He harried and bullied United attackers and started quick counters.

Mousa Dembele – 7 – What a return to form from the Belgian as he always looked to push his team forward with his runs and passes. He had a good partnership with Dier and he was very physical with Pogba and Lingard to keep them quiet.

Christian Eriksen – 8 – An amazing return to the starting XI for the Dane as he started the game with a bang and destroyed the opposition midfield all game long. He was everywhere on the pitch and he found huge spaces in the attacking third where he loves to operate. He pulled the stings for a remarkable Tottenham performance.

Son Heung-Min – 7 – He had everything in this game except for a goal. He set the tempo with his quick and smart movement, and continued with it until he was subbed off. He should have squared the ball to Kane for Tottenham’s third but that will not bother Pochettino too much.

Dele Alli – 8 – This is the sort of performance that we love to see from Dele as he was a perfect partner for Kane and Eriksen. He was everywhere in the attacking third, running behind the United defence and pressing like a madman. He is always a guaranteed starter with performances like these.

Harry Kane – 7 – A world class striker performance from our number 10 as he destroyed Phil Jones and Smalling with his physical performance. He bullied Jones for Tottenham’s first goal and he was unlucky to score with the opportunities he had.

Subs

Erik Lamela – 7 – That was an amazing cameo, wasn’t it? His passing, movement and link-up play were all perfect and he was unlucky not to have an assist in the limited time he was on the pitch.

Moussa Sissoko– N/R

Victor Wanyama – N/R
