Spurs pull out of deal for exciting Sunderland youngster

Spurs reportedly pulled out of a deal for striker Joel Asoro because of his agent’s excessive demands, according to The Sun.

We had agreed a fee with Sunderland for the pacy Swede, but the teenager’s wage expectations were too high and Asoro, 19, has instead joined Championship outfit Swansea City for a fee of £2.5million.

Asoro caught the eye in the Black Cats side last season despite their relegation from the Championship and the Swans snapped him up in a bargain deal despite rival interest from several clubs and he has headed for the principality.

New Sunderland manager Jack Ross has been trying to move out some big earners but is instead now raising funds by letting one of their best prospects go.

New Swansea boss Graham Potter is excited about his new signing’s arrival.

Potter said: “Joel is an exciting player. He is someone we have known for a while and he has high-end quality. He is very, very direct and has extreme pace which we think can help us.”
