Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed that Erik Lamela has signed a new contract with the club until 2022.
The news is hardly a surprise to Spurs fans who have been active on social media for the past few hours, after Italian Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio gazumped the club by posting a photo of the Argentina international holding up his new contract.
Lamela’s current deal was due to expire in 2020 and fans will be hoping that now his injury problems are behind him, that he will finally start to live up to his potential. We’ve all seen his Europa League rabona and his goals against Leicester City in the final game of last season, but there has been little in between.
Earlier today, the club announced that Heung-min Son had signed a new contract until 2023.
