Spurs ramp up interest in Manchester United forward

According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham will ramp up their interest in Manchester United’s unsettled French winger Anthony Martial next week.

The Mail understands officials from Spurs are planning talks with United chiefs as they look to keep to their promise of acquiring manager Mauricio Pochettino’s top transfer targets.

The former Monaco forward has not been named in Didier Deschamps’ France World Cup squad and there are hopes a deal can be concluded swiftly if both clubs can agree a fee.

The article goes on to say Pochettino has identified Martial as a priority signing ahead of next season as he looks to build a squad capable of sustaining a title tilt with
the Argentine said to have at least £100million to spend on new talent this summer and he is ready to splash a significant percentage of that on Martial. If Spurs can land the striker it would be recommended to take a look at these betting tips to see what odds we would be to win the Premier League title next season.

The article adds that United will look to recoup as much of the initial £38 they spent to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford in 2015.

It makes for an interesting game of brinkmanship with United’s determination to maximise income from any Martial sale being the biggest stumbling block towards a deal, given Daniel Levy’s reputation as a fierce negotiator.

Meanwhile, talks between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be at a deadlock for defender Toby Alderweireld.

According to the press, Tottenham are demanding a transfer fee in excess of the £55 million which Jose Mourinho’s side are prepared to pay for the former Southampton player.

Man United are alreadyready to hand Alderweireld a five-year contract and a salary far in excess of Tottenham’s last offer of around £120,000 a week, Toby is said to want at least £180,000 a week from his new deal.
