Tottenham Player Ratings vs LA Galaxy

Cudicini 5- the Italian wasn’t called upon much during the game and although he produced a few saves they were fairly routine and he also looked shaky at times.

Walker 7- The speedy fullback made a number of key passes and runs into the midfield and his highlight came when he made a vital interception as Robbie Keane, a former player was about to pull the trigger inside the box. However Walker was forced to go off injured in the 69th minute with what appeared to be a reoccurrence of his ankle injury.

Kaboul 5- the French international didn’t have his best of games as he allowed Robbie Keane to break away from the defence numerous times and never really had a control on the game.

Vertonghen 6 – Simular to our first pre-season game against Stevenage looked comfortable on the ball however he was also at fault for letting Robbie Keane get behind our defence countless times

Bassong 6 – Had a decent game at left back although he often left big gaps open allowing the winger to exploit this. Saying this though I believe he is a strong cover at left back for Assou Ekotto, who also featured for us as he replaced bassong at half time.

Livermore 6 – He went about business in his usual quiet fashion not seeing him a great deal during the game but for the majority of the time he carried out his defensive duties in front of the back line.

Townsend 5- The winger in this particular game operated in the centre of midfield however he still managed to make a few runs before being unfairly stopped in his tracks by the Galaxy defenders meaning he never really got into the game.

Sigurdsson 6 – After scoring on his debut for us, he too provided the cross to set up bale for his goal in this game however when the roles were reversed between him and Bale, Sigurdsson missed a relatively easy chance putting the ball wide from about 8 yards out.

Bale 8 – our stand-out performer in my opinion tonight not only scoring are only goal in the 17th minute but also making 7-8 dangerous runs into the area and may also feel unfortunate not to have been awarded a penalty as after going round the keeper he was brought down.

Van Der Vaart – Was forced to retire early on in the game in the 36th minute through what appeared to be a muscle injury in the lower part of his body being replaced by Jermaine Jenas. However after his departure we seemed to lose our shape and started to slack suggesting the Dutch playmaker is a key player in our team and we now have to hope his injury is not a serious one.

Defoe 5 – Operating as a ‘lone-striker’ Defoe never really got much support and therefore was isolated throughout the game and whilst he did have a few strikes at goal they were comfortable for the keeper and he never really had a clear cut opportunity in the game.
