Spurs ready to reignite Malcom pursuit

Spurs have stepped up their pursuit of Bordeaux wing wizard Malcom.

Mauricio Pochettino has long been an admirer of the Brazilian, who hit 12 goals in 38 games for his Ligue 1 club last season according to The Sun reports in France claim the Spurs hierarchy have reopened discussions with their Bordeaux opposite numbers about a deal for the 21-year-old.The officials are also said to have got back in contact with Malcom’s advisors.

Serie A  giants Inter Milan had made strenuous efforts to land Malcom, but are understood to have cooled their interest faced with his club’s £45million valuation with the right winger has also attracting interest from Arsenal, while Chelsea are believed to have considered him as a replacement if in-demand Eden Hazard leaves Stamford Bridge.

The article does say Spurs lead the race for his signature, having already pursued the South American during last season.

Malcom signed for Bordeaux for £4.5m in January 2016 and is under contract until 2021 and has won two Under-23 caps, and is on the verge of a senior national call-up following the team’s World Cup quarter-final exit against Belgium last Friday.

You’d have to wonder if we are still in for him considering Lucas Moura’s arrival in January. He’d be a welcome addition but it’s hard to see how he might start under Pochettino. Dele and Eriksen seem certain starters so he’d be battling Son and Lucas for that starting place. Would you like to see the Brazilian at Spurs let us know your thoughts
