Spurs receive a top four boost as they make up ground on Champions League rivals

Tottenham Hotspur gave their fans the perfect late Christmas present this year as they defeated Brighton 2-1 on Boxing Day in front of a home crowd.

This was the perfect way to bounce back from the disappointing defeat against Chelsea at the weekend, when Spurs wasted the chance to break into the top four.

However, the three points this afternoon have shot the North London club back into fifth, making up ground on a number of Premier League rivals.

Arsenal only managed a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth today in the Premier League, while Chelsea lost to Southampton 2-0.

Sheffield United also only managed a draw, while Wolves do not play until tomorrow against Man City, with at least one guaranteed to drop points.

Spurs are now just three behind Chelsea and five ahead of rivals Arsenal, with the Lilywhites preparing for an away trip to bottom of the league Norwich City on the 28th of December.
