Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be without the services of Jan Vertonghen for several weeks, according to reports in Belgium.
The defender suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s Premier League victory at Huddersfield Town during the first half and had to be replaced at the break by Harry Winks.
Belgian sports journalist Kristof Terreur spotted Vertonghen hobbling through the mixed media zone at last night’s Champions League fixture against Barcelona at Wembley which is not a good sign it was just a grade one strain.
Tottenham are currently suffering something of an injury crisis with Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Serge Aurier and Jan Vertonghen all missing the 4-2 loss to Barcelona through respective injuries.
The loss of Vertonghen will mean that Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez will continue their central defensive partnership, with the option of Eric Dier dropping back should Pochettino decide to play a back three.
The way he limped through the mixed-zone yesterday doesn’t bode well. Jan Vertonghen will be out for several weeks with a hamstring injury. More exams needed to know the full extent. #thfc #coys pic.twitter.com/18lkIsWQE8
