Spurs receive major boost in chances of holding onto important figure

It has been confirmed Real Madrid have reappointed Zinedine Zidane as manager after parting ways with Santiago Solari. Madrid have had an extremely difficult season, having been knocked out of the Champions League as well as the Copa del Rey.

They also find themselves out of the La Liga title race, as they trail rivals Barcelona by 12 points.

Zidane enjoyed tremendous success in Madrid guiding the Los Blancos to three Champions League titles in his four years in charge of the club.

While Zidane’s reappointment comes as a surprise, it is certainly a pleasant one for Spurs fans as it drastically increases Mauricio Pochettino’s chances of staying with Tottenham.

Pochettino was rumoured to be at the top of Madrid’s wish list, and the Argentine was reported to be growing frustrated with the lack of investment from the Spurs hierarchy.

However, with Zidane taking over at Madrid and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the firm favourite for the Manchester United job, it looks all but certain the Pochettino is going to stay with Spurs for the time being.

It is now up to the club to show the Argentine their ambition by investing heavily into the squad in the summer.
