Spurs remain in contention for signing despite Newcastle reports – Journalist

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed in his column on HITC that his sources at Newcastle have explained that a deal to take Tottenham target Tosin Adarabioyo to St James’ Park is not close as things stand.

It was reported by The Northern Echo on Wednesday that Newcastle were close to beating the likes of Spurs for Adarabioyo’s signature.

The report claimed that even though the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Man Utd had spoken to the centre-back’s representatives, the Magpies were now at the front of the queue and had offered the defender a long-term deal worth £100,000 per week.

However, Fabrizio Romano made it clear on Thursday morning that the race for the Englishman remains wide open and that he is yet to finalise his next destination.

Tottenham remain in contention for Tosin Adarabioyo

The same information has now been backed up by Bailey, who has said via HITC that Adarabioyo has not agreed a deal with the Magpies yet.

He states that while Eddie Howe’s men are keen on securing the Fulham star’s services, an agreement between the parties is not close at the moment.

Bailey adds that Tottenham, Man Utd, West Ham and even Liverpool remain in contention to sign the 26-year-old.

It sounds like a whole host of clubs are now scrambling to convince Adarabioyo to sign on the dotted line. While Tottenham would be able to offer the centre-back a competitive salary, I do wonder if Radu Dragusin’s situation might put off the Englishman from moving to N17.
