Spurs reported to have lodged €8m offer for World Cup star

Tottenham are reported to have made an approach to Porto for their captain Hector Herrera.

According to the Portuguese news outlet A Bola, Tottenham are looking to steal a march on the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan, Roma and Arsenal by lodging an €8m offer to sign him in January.

The Mexican international midfielder is out of contract with the former Champions League winners in January and could walk away from the club next summer for free.

Herrera, 28, caught the eye while on international duty at this summer’s World Cup in Russia and is not likely to be short of interest if he does allow his contract to run down.

With Mousa Dembele’s contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, Mauricio Pochettino already appears to be doing his homework on potential additions to the middle of the park.
