Spurs reportedly ready to listen to offers for key defender

According to a report by the Daily Record, Tottenham are willing to listen to offers made for centre back star Toby Alderweireld.

The 29-year-old has under a year left on his contract, as does his Belgian team mate Jan Vertonghen.

The report also claims that Spurs are pursuing Man United defender Eric Bailly as a potential replacement for Toby.

The Ivory Coast international is said to be frustrated with a lack of playing time in Manchester.

Bailly was purchased for 35 million Euros in the summer of 2016 (SkySports).

Daily Record claim both Spurs and Arsenal enquired about the player’s availability in the summer, only to be rebuffed by United.

United have struggled defensively this campaign, conceding 25 goals in just 17 games, hence the 24-yar-old’s frustration at not being included.

Spurs may make a move for the unsettled defender if they do lose their star man Alderweireld, which looks increasingly likely with every day that passes.

Toby will be able to talk to non-English clubs about a potential move in the summer come January.
