Are Spurs set to make a move for Young in January?

According to TalkSport, Tottenham are set to renew their interest in Aston Villa Ashley Young in January.

The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane during the summer transfer window and was apparently close to a switch until Martin O’Neill resigned as manager.

Young is valued at around £25million by Villa officials, which would be a massive outlay in spending by Daniel Levy. Is he really worth £25million? Especially considering the midfield options we have.

The player is said to be keen to play Champions League football and return to London. He currently earns around £65,00-a-week at Villa Park, which would put him in line with the top earners at the Lane.

One possibility of getting Young for a lower fee, which apparently is being looked at is by offering the likes of Robbie Keane or Jermaine Jenas as part of a potential deal.

  1. No – rather expensive & will create an imbalance in the side. In any event, how will this individual contribute to improving the current performance of the team?

  2. waste of money!!!!! asuming we will be playng a 4-5-1 bale will be playing on the left and new signing VDV in the hole behind the lone striker i dont see what he will bring to the side especially for that kind of money …
