Spurs set to miss Rondon – transfer rumour

In a disappointing turn around, Spurs now look set to miss the signing of Venezuelan international Salomon Rondon to Russian club Rubin Kazan, according to an unverified Italian media source.

Yesterday the news broke that the Malaga striker looked set to join the White Hart Lane ranks as his current club seek to raise funds for debts to both players and other clubs. Today however, the Italian media citing Radio Marca have claimed that Rubin Kazan have submitted a higher bid than the reported £10 million Spurs put forward and are now in pole position to sign the striker.

This information remains speculation at the moment but should it be true and Rondon sign for the Russian club, it would be yet another blow to Spurs in their search for reinforcements up front. Jermain Defoe represents the only senior striker at the club as it stands and moves to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent basis after his successful loan spell last season have stalled.

Time will tell as to whether chairman Daniel Levy will put an improved offer in for the player, but if this is not the case new manager AVB will surely be running out of options soon as none of the strikers we have been linked or associated with in the transfer window have ever materialised into anything further than speculation.
