Spurs squad boasts 15 more major trophies than Liverpool

Spurs and Liverpool are just three days away from their all-Premier-League showdown in Madrid for the Champions League trophy.

Tottenham will be walking out into a CL final for the very first time in the club’s history, while Liverpool qualify for the second time in as many years.

Many people may label the Reds as favourites on this experience alone, however, Tottenham actually boast a greater number of major trophies within their squad.

Tottenham have used 23 players in their Champions League campaign so far, and they have won 52 career trophies between them. Liverpool have used 18 players, and have just 37 major titles to their names (Daily Mail).

For Spurs: Davies and Vorm both boast a League Cup with Swansea from 2013, Eriksen won four trophies with Ajax, Sanchez won six titles with Atletico Nacional, Llorente boasts five club winners’ medals, Moura has 12, Vertonghen 4, Lloris 2, Aurier 9, Alderweireld 5, and Wanyama 3.

However, for some reason, the Daily Mail’s report fails to include Llorente’s World Cup and European Championship winners’ medals, as well as Heung Min Son’s Asia Games 2018 title.

Ten of Liverpool’s major trophies come from Shaqiri, while Sturridge, Keita, and Milner have 4, Wijnaldum, Van Dijk, and Lovren have 3, Salah and Mane have 2, and Fabinho and Moreno have one each.

Could silverware experience come into play?

Spurs Web Opinion:

While Spurs have not won a trophy in well over a decade, and Pochettino has yet to lift one as a manager, it is reassuring to know that a large number of the Spurs squad have been there and done it for one team or another. Let’s hope that nerves are thrown out the window and they leave everything on the pitch.
