Spurs star admits frustration at failing to build momentum after Man City win

Ben Davies has admitted that he and his teammates are frustrated at not being able to build on their win over Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.

It seemed as though Tottenham had turned a corner when they produced one of their best performances of the season to beat City 3-2, following three back-to-back losses in the Premier League.

Ahead of their trip to Turf Moor, Antonio Conte spoke about the need to develop a winning mentality among his squad (Football.London).

However, the Spurs players once again showed on Wednesday that they still have a long way to go as they failed to break down a resolute Burnley defence.

Predictably, the home side’s winner came off a set-piece, with Ben Mee rising above Cristian Romero to head home.

When asked about the loss against the Clarets following the high of winning last Saturday, Davies told NBC Sports: “Yeah, it’s very frustrating.

“It’s tough to take especially after putting in as good a performance as we did at [Man] City and you want to build some momentum and trying to build upon that, and it was a shame we could not do that.”

The Welshman admitted that Spurs felt comfortable through most of the game but had to do better defensively.

When asked about the North Londoners ending up on the losing side despite dominating proceedings, he said: “I don’t know, it’s a tough one to analyse right now.

“We felt pretty comfortable throughout most of the game and with the threat that they carry at set-pieces, we have to do better.”
