Son Heung-min has admitted that he is proud of the way Dele Alli has played himself back into contention after going through a difficult time over the past few months.
Jose Mourinho revealed after Alli’s proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain in January fell through that the midfielder can still be an important player for the side if he regains his best form.
The Spurs boss has stayed true to his words, with the England international getting plenty of minutes under his belt since returning from his injury.
Alli produced his best performance of the season in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Wolfsberger on Wednesday, scoring a brilliant overhead kick and bagging two assists.
The midfielder had to be content with a 25-minute cameo off the bench in Spurs’ demolition of Burnley on Sunday but Mourinho did hand Bale a start, with the Welshman bagging a brace and setting up Harry Kane’s goal with a pinpoint ball.
Son admitted after Tottenham’s 4-0 win over the Clarets that it is great to have Bale and Alli back to their best.
The South Korean told Goal.com: “I am always happy to play with any players. It is happiness to go out to the pitch and play football.
“I’ve been with Dele for a long time, and recently he has had a tough time, but I’m proud of his performance.
“I get along with [Gareth] Bale and it is nice to have a good performance with him.
“Today every player tried to do their best and worked hard, therefore the players played happily.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Alli and Son have always had a special relationship, as was evident from the way the South Korean embraced the 24-year-old when he came off against Wolfsberger on Wednesday.
It is clear that Alli is a popular member of the Spurs squad and so having him motivated and happy could not only be beneficial to the team on the pitch but can also be a boost to the squad’s morale.
