Spurs star admits he might not watch the Amazon documentary for 20 years

Eric Dier has revealed that he has not yet watched Amazon’s fly-on-the-wall documentary on Tottenham Hotspur’s 2019/20 season despite all episodes now being available.

The last three episodes of the series came out on Monday and Dier featured in a couple of controversial scenes.

The England international was filmed getting into a heated argument with Dele Alli in the dressing room after Tottenham’s defeat to Wolves in March, with Jose Mourinho eventually stepping in to break up the conflict.

The series also briefly covered Dier entering the stands after the FA Cup loss to Norwich on penalties, after his brother was allegedly abused by a fan.

It certainly makes for fascinating viewing but Dier has admitted that he is not interested in watching it at the moment, claiming that it is something he might look back on many years down the line

In an interview with GQ, the defender said about the documentary: “Yeah, I haven’t watched any of it [yet].

“I actually spoke to [basketball player] Steve Kerr a couple of days ago about it, because obviously, he was in The Last Dance [the Netflix documentary about the record-breaking Chicago Bulls season].

“I said to him, ‘You know, looking back on an incredible season and winning and everything you did, that must be a lot more enjoyable than what it would be like for me!’

“And I don’t really enjoy watching myself back anyway. So I don’t think I will [watch it]. But maybe, you know, in 20 years’ time or something, it could be nice to look back on, even though it wasn’t the season we wanted.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is understandable that Dier does not want to relive last season given how many difficult challenges we faced and how disappointing the campaign ended up being on the whole. However, I imagine that for neutrals, it is the challenges (injuries, fighting, COVID suspension) that adds drama to the series and makes it a good watch.
