Spurs star admits he ‘never once thought’ he was among league’s best

Son Heung-min has admitted that he has never considered himself to be among the best players in the Premier League.

The South Korean superstar has improved every single season since he arrived in North London from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015.

While he was a bit-part player in his first season at the club, he established himself as an important player for the side in the subsequent two seasons.

He then arguably become one of Tottenham’s most important players over the last two years after he showed he can shoulder the team’s goalscoring burden when Harry Kane was out injured.

The 28-year-old has seemingly taken his game to a new level this season as his exemplary movement and finishing have seen him climb to the top of the Premier League’s goalscoring charts.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor even claimed recently that Son was the best player in the league ‘by a country mile’ but the Tottenham forward gave a humble response when compared with the best players in the division.

Son told the Korea Football Association (KFA) YouTube channel (as relayed by Football.London): “I’ve never once thought I am among the best players in the Premier League,”

“Honestly, I’ve never thought that for a moment. I have always tried to do my best for Tottenham and in the national team and try to show all my abilities.

“It feels different to play for the national team and for Spurs. We will prepare well so that we can play as well as we can for the fans.”
