Spurs star admits he was ‘scared’ when Jose Mourinho arrived at the club

Moussa Sissoko has admitted that he was a little apprehensive when he heard that Jose Mourinho would be replacing Mauricio Pochettino in North London but has revealed that the Tottenham head coacg has been ‘very sociable’.

It has been a year since Mourinho walked through the door in North London and while Sissoko admitted that he had the greatest respect for what the Portuguese coach had achieved in the game, he was not sure what his relationship with his new boss was going to be like.

The midfielder told The Evening Standard: “[I was] a little anxious because you don’t know [him] and he is a strong man with a lot of character, you don’t know exactly what you will get.

“Of course, you know you will get a good manager with a lot of experience but, when it comes to relationships, you are a little bit scared!”

However, Sissoko dismissed suggestions that he had spoken to French teammate Paul Pogba about his strained relationship with Mourinho at Manchester United.

“I don’t know why (the pair did not seem to get along) and to be honest I don’t want to know because each person is different,” he said.

A year into Mourinho’s stint at Spurs, the midfielder admits that the 58-year-old is now very close with the players as well as everyone at the club.

Sissoko added: “He’s been really good with everyone. It’s not just with the players, it’s everyone in the building.

“He can be very sociable, talking and laughing with all the players. We are enjoying everything we are doing with him.

Mourinho’s Instagram account has been generating a lot of attention lately, and Sissoko admitted that it has also been the topic of discussions inside the Spurs changing room.

The former Newcastle man added: “We all laugh about what he’s putting on his Instagram.

“It’s funny. We know he’s the manager so we take it positively and just laugh between us. I think people love it.”
