Spurs star among 7 nominees for PFA Player of the Year Award

Harry Kane has been nominated alongside six other players for the PFA Player of the Year award for the 2020/21 season, Sky Sports have revealed.

Kane finished the season with 23 goals and 14 assists in the Premier League and thus took home both the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards.

The striker’s numbers are particularly impressive considering that it has been a poor season for Spurs, who stuttered to a seventh-place finish, the club’s lowest league position since 2009.

Kane was beaten to the Football Writers’ Player of the Year by Manchester City star Ruben Dias and the centre-back is unsurprisingly also one of the nominees for the PFA award.

Dias’ City teammate Kevin De Bryne, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and West Ham United’s Tomas Soucek are the other players who have been nominated for the award.

If Kane does beat out the competition to the award, it would be the first time in his career that the Spurs star has won the PFA prize.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Kane has finished with the most goals and assists while playing for an underperforming Spurs side should make him the obvious winner. The only other candidate who could compete with the England captain is Dias for the impact he has had on the City backline.
