Spurs star apologises for upcoming departure

Heung-min Son is looking to leave Tottenham Hotspur on a high as he plays his last game before heading off on international duty.

Son is expected to be named in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the visit of Manchester United on Sunday before his season is interrupted for the second time by South Korea.

The forward has been named in South Korea’s squad for the Asia Cup which is taking place in the United Arab Emirates.

His involvement in the tournament comes at a bad time for Tottenham with Son in red hot form in front of goal and could miss as many as five upcoming matches depending on how far South Korea progress in the tournament, with the final taking place on February 1st.

Should his country make it to the final, he will miss the following matches:

Jan 20th – Fulham v Spurs – Premier League

Jan 24th – Chelsea v Spurs – Carabao Cup

Jan 26th – Crystal Palace v Spurs – FA Cup

Jan 30th – Spurs v Watford – Premier League

Feb 2nd – Spurs v Newcastle – Premier League

He told Sky Sports: “It’s not easy for me to leave the team at this important time,”

“I feel very sad and sorry but I want to win this game and go with confidence to Dubai.

“To play for your country is always a proud moment, but it’s tough for me having missed one month of the season already.

“I want to go with three points, with confidence to Dubai.”
