Spurs star believes he is back to full fitness

Tottenham Hotspur have been struggling with injuries since the new season began, with a number of key players suffering stints on the side lines.

Midfield maestro Christian Eriksen was one of Tottenham’s casualties until a recent return.

The Great Dane was suffering with a niggling abdominal injury that kept him out for a number of weeks.

Since his return, Eriksen has only played a full 90 minute game twice, appearing on the bench an additional three times.

Despite this lack of football, Denmark have still called up their star man for international duty this week.

Eriksen captained his side to an impressive last-16 finish in the World Cup in Russia.

Denmark are set to play both Wales and the Republic of Ireland in UEFA Nations League games this week.

Spurs will be hoping that Eriksen isn’t used for both full games, but the player himself insists he is back to full fitness after his injury.

He told SkySports: “I feel very good, very fresh. I haven’t played that many games so I think for my body it’s been good with a bit of a build-up going into every game.”

“My body needed it. It said take a rest. It’s never fun to be injured, it’s always boring being on the side lines when you want to be able to help the team.”
