Spurs star finally spotted back in training after long-term injury

Tottenham Hotspur have shared two images on the club’s official social media account, showing James Maddison preparing for and taking part in a training session, confirming the playmaker is now back from his ankle injury.

Maddison quickly became something of a talisman for Tottenham since joining from Leicester in the summer, delivering three goals and six assists in his first 11 games for the club (Transfermarkt).

However, the 27-year-old’s season was cut short when he suffered an ankle injury during the defeat against Chelsea at the start of November, and Spurs have been without him ever since.

While the Lilywhites have managed to get themselves back on track in recent weeks, it has been clear that Ange Postecoglou‘s side are crying out for that creative spark that only Maddison can offer.

It has been suggested by The Telegraph that Maddison could be ready to feature in the upcoming FA Cup clash with Manchester City on Friday. And, at the weekend, Maddison himself suggested he is close to a return, after posting a photo of his boots on Instagram.

Now, the club has shared some very promising updates in the form of two photos of the playmaker as he takes part in a training session today.

The first shows Maddison lacing up his boots in the Spurs dressing room with a big smile on his face. The caption on the post reads: “Look who’s back.”

In a further image, Maddison is seen on the training pitch wearing a bib, and there can be no doubt that he is part of the session. The caption on this post reads: “Things you love to see.”

Of all the players we have been missing this season, there are none we have needed back more than James Maddison. If he is training today, then that gives us a lot of hope that he will be ready for the City game, where he could make a real difference.
