Report: Spurs star named eighth richest young sports star in the UK – Worth £24m

Tottenham star, Harry Kane, has the eight highest net worth among the United Kingdom’s young sports stars, according to Sunday Times Young Sports Rich List.

Kane is the joint highest-paid player at Tottenham along with last summer’s signing Tanguy Ndombele, with the pair each earning £200,000 a week (Spotrac).

It thus comes as no surprise that the striker has seen his wealth increase from £8 million to £24 million, taking him to eighth place in the list (Mirror).

The richest sportsmen in the country are said to be over 30, with F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and golfer Rory McIlroy leading the rest of the pack.

Former Tottenham star, Gareth Bale, has a net worth estimated to be £114 million, owing to his bumper contract at Real Madrid and leads the way for the 30-and-unders.

Two Manchester City stars (Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling) and two Manchester United stars (Paul Pogba and David De Gea) make the top ten, while Chelsea’s N’golo Kante and Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson also feature.

Anthony Joshua is the only non-footballer to feature in the top ten with his wealth being an estimated £107 million, just £7 million short of Bale.

Spurs Web Opinion

What is striking from this is not just the footballers’ net worth figures but how much their fortunes have increased over the past year. It shows how unsustainable the growth in player wages was, especially at the top level. I suspect that we will see it level off following the COVID-19 pandemic.
