Spurs star ‘likes’ tweet mocking Arsenal legend for Harry Kane scoring claim

Tottenham fans have certainly had a field day poking fun at Paul Merson for his prediction about Harry Kane of late.

Merson claimed that the Spurs striker will find it difficult to score at the same rate while playing for a Jose Mourinho side (Sky Sports).

The Tottenham boss hit back at the former Arsenal midfielder’s comments by listing the brilliant goal scoring statistics of some of the world-class forwards he has managed in his career so far (Football.London).

Merson, however, doubled down on his claim and insisted that Kane was not a striker that suited the way Mourinho wanted to play (Daily Star).

After the England captain netted his second brace in a row against Leicester, which took his goal tally to 13 goals in 18 Premier League appearances under Mourinho, some Spurs fans understandably decided to call Merson out on his poor take.

It turns out that Jan Vertonghen also quite enjoyed watching Spurs fans take the mickey out of the pundit for his take on Kane.

The Spurs defender has seemingly ‘liked’ a tweet mocking the former Arsenal man.

Spurs Web Opinion

The thought of us possible not getting to see Jan Vertonghen in a Spurs shirt again, is quite depressing. If he does leave, I will also miss his social media zingers, which I have come to enjoy quite a lot over the years. The defender’s tendency to constantly poke fun at his teammates also shows the relationship he has with the squad and how important he is for the dressing room dynamic.
