Spurs star nominated for Premier League Player of the Month award

Harry Kane has been nominated for the Premier League player of the month award for September on the back of his excellent start to the season.

Kane has only managed to get on the scoresheet once in the first three top flight matches of the campaign but his all-round play has been excellent.

He has been the main creative force for Jose Mourinho’s side going forward, helping set up all four of Son Heung-min’s goals against Southampton as well as Lucas Moura’s tap in against Newcastle.

He has found his goalscoring boots in Europa League, with the England captain netting five goals in Tottenham’s three qualifications games so far.

Overall, the striker has more goal contributions than any other player in the Premier League in September, and so it is not a surprise to the striker being nominated.

However, the award is going to be difficult for Kane to win, with other nominees like Everton pair Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez, and Leicester City duo Jamie Vardy and Timothy Castange, also starting the season in great form.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Kane has been nominated despite getting on the scoresheet just once in the league last month, tells you all that you need to know about his all-round game and his creative output. He is arguably as good a playmaker as any in the world when he drops into the number ten role with runners ahead of him. I expect him to finish the season with 10 to 15 assists, given the slightly different role he is being deployed in.
