Spurs star packed up his belongings before CL final in a bid to leave the club

Christian Eriksen was so confident that he was going to leave Tottenham Hotspur to join Real Madrid this summer that he even had the contents of his London home packed up before the club had even played in the Champions League final (Mirror).

The Dane was a disappointing performer in the 2-0 loss to Liverpool in Madrid with his form also being way below standard in the weeks building up to the European showpiece.

Just days after the heartbreak of Spurs coming so close to be able to call themselves the champions of Europe for the first time in their history, Eriksen revealed to Ekstra Bladet that he wants to depart North London this summer in order to seek a new challenge.

Eriksen is out of contract at Tottenham next summer and claimed back in January that Spurs ‘know what he wants’ when he refused to deny rumours linking him with a move to the Spanish giants (The Sun).

A move to Madrid has yet to materialise for the Spurs playmaker, who may be forced to unpack his belongings and sign a new deal in N17.
