Spurs star reveals he was a ‘little nervous’ when he first arrived in North London

Dejan Kulusevski has revealed that he is extremely pleased with the choice he made to come to Tottenham Hotspur in January, although he was a little nervous at first.

Kulusevski’s signing was not seen as a high-profile capture for Spurs particularly after they were beaten by Liverpool to the signing of Luis Diaz (Marca).

The Swede had not set the world alight at Juventus but he has certainly hit the ground running at North London, proving a potent threat up front alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

The 21-year-old has already scored two goals and provided four assists in the Premier League (Trasfermarkt) and has been nominated for March’s Player of the Month award.

The winger admitted that he was a little nervous when he made the move in January but said that he is over the moon with how things have gone so far.

Kulusevski told Sweedish outlet Fotbollskanalen (24/03/22 edition – as relayed by InsideFutbol): “It’s fantastic, I’m so happy that the move was made

“It’s something I wanted for myself. I was a little nervous when I got there. A new club, a new league and also because the Premier League is a very difficult league.

“But it has gone very well. I’m happy to have played and scored some goals and assists.”

Kulusevski also revealed that he had a chance to come to the Premier League in the past and admitted that playing in England was a dream of his.

He added: “The Premier League is the league I have wanted to play in since I was little.

“And every year there has been a small opportunity for me to go there but it has never felt 100 per cent.

“Now I wanted to go there. I wanted a new challenge, a new environment, and I got it there. I could not have wished for a better club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Kulusveski and Bentancur have certainly improved the team on the pitch, I have been particularly impressed with the attitude of both players.

It is evident from Tottenham’s January business (both incomings and outgoings) that Conte wants to build a squad of players who are all keen to learn and ready to sacrifice themselves for the betterment of the team.
