Spurs star reveals he will send text to Kieran Trippier ahead of Arsenal vs Newcastle

Harry Kane has admitted that he will send a text to his former Tottenham teammate Kieran Trippier ahead of Newcastle’s clash against Arsenal this evening.

Spurs needed all three points on Sunday against Burnley to pile the pressure on their North London rivals ahead of their trip to St James’ Park.

Although it was not the most free-flowing of displays by the Lilywhites, they did get the job done against Clarets, with Kane netting from the spot at the end of the first half to help the home side to a 1-0 win.

That means that Tottenham now sit two points clear of their North London rivals in fourth and Antonio Conte’s men will be hoping that the Magpies can do them a favour this evening by getting a result against the Gunners.

Trippier stated last week that he aims to help Spurs in their quest for fourth place (The Shields Gazette), and Kane admitted that he will be texting the right-back ahead of the clash.

The 28-year-old told BBC Sport following Tottenham’s win over Burnley: “I’ll give Kieran Trippier a text. It’ll be a tough game for Arsenal, but we’ve taken care of what we needed to do.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe the race for the fourth spot will be decided by Arsenal’s result against Newcastle this evening as I fully expect the Gunners to beat Everton on the final day of the season.

I believe that it will be a tough game for Mikel Arteta’s men today as there will be a celebratory atmosphere at St James’ Park in what is the Magpies’ final home game of the season.
