Spurs player reveals one big difference between Nuno and Mourinho

Lucas Moura has backed Nuno Espirito Santo to succeed at Tottenham but admitted that the Portuguese coach is not as outspoken as his predecessor, Jose Mourinho.

Even though Moura was not a regular starter under Mourinho, the Brazilian was valued by the Portuguese coach, often coming on as an impact sub.

The 28-year-old was even used as a number ten by the former Spurs boss during his final few months at the club, a role in which he thrived.

Moura has been deployed in a similar role by Nuno in pre-season and the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker will be hoping to establish himself in the starting eleven this season.

The pacy winger admitted that he has been impressed by what he has seen from the former Wolves boss so far.

He told BBC Sport: “He is a very clever manager. He did well at Wolves and can do well here.

“Everyone has a different style. Mourinho is quite different. Nuno is more quiet.”

Moura has seen the likes of Toby Alderweirled and Erik Lamela depart the club this summer, while Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil have arrived through the door.

The winger is confident that Tottenham will have a competitive squad when the transfer window shuts.

He said on the club’s transfer activity: “Every player that comes to the club has the quality to help the team.

“We also lose some important players but football is like this. Players leave, players come.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Moura does have a lot of attributes that seem like a good fit for Nuno’s approach. I can certainly see the Brazilian having his best season since arriving at the club if the Portuguese coach backs him from the start of the campaign.
