Spurs star scoops Premier League Player of the Month award

Heung-min Son has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for September, beating the likes of Mohamed Salah and Julian Alvarez to claim the award.

It’s safe to say Heung-min Son is pretty much back to his best now. After a poor showing last season, it was feared by some fans, including myself that Son who won the Golden Boot in 2021/22 would not reach the same levels again.

But, since the departure of Harry Kane, Son has been handed the captain’s armband at Spurs and appears to be revitalised under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

So far this season, Son has six goals to his name (Transfermarkt). All six of those goals came in the month of September, with a hat-trick against Burnley, two goals against Arsenal, and another in the win over Liverpool.

It is this incredible run of form that helped Son pick up a nomination for September’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

Son wins Player of the Month award for September

It has now been announced that Son has won the award for Player of the Month, ahead of Mohamed Salah, Julian Alvarez, Ollie Watkins, Jarrod Bowen, Pedro Neto, and former Tottenham defender, Kieran Trippier.

Son has been integral in leading Spurs to the top of the Premier League table and helping his side maintain an unbeaten start to the current campaign. Not only has he been scoring the key goals for the Lilywhites, but his performances as captain have been inspirational for his teammates.

It seems Tottenham Hotspur are dominating this award so far this season, with Son following in the footsteps of James Maddison, who was named Player of the Month for August.

Spurs Web Opinion

We are delighted to see Sonny pick up this award, and he really does deserve it. While it’s been great to see him among the goals again this year, his performances have shown he is more than just a great finisher, he is a brilliant leader, too.
