Spurs star who missed Liverpool game could be back for West Ham clash

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could be available for Tottenham’s League Cup quarter-final against West Ham on Wednesday, The Evening Standard have revealed.

Hojbjerg was one of the first-team stars who sat out Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool following a Covid-19 outbreak at the North London club.

Oliver Skipp also started on the bench against the Reds, with Antonio Conte fielding a midfielder trio of Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele as he switched from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 formation.

Winks and Dele both put in impressive displays against Liverpool and both midfielders earned the Tottenham boss’ praise.

Winks was particularly impressive in front of the back three and picked up the Man of the Match award for his performance.

Conte might have a selection headache ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final at home against the Hammers, with Hojbjerg potentially being available.

The Evening Standard claim that the Denmark international has returned to training this week and could be ready to feature in the London derby tomorrow.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if Winks keeps his place in the side and starts alongside Skipp tomorrow. Conte might want to ease Hojbjerg in instead of throwing the Dane straight into the starting eleven. It will be interesting to see whether the Italian sticks to a 3-5-2 or reverts to a 3-4-3, thus bringing in Lucas for Dele.
