Spurs star who took a knock earlier this week left out of country’s starting eleven

Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans will be breathing a big sigh of relief this evening after Sergio Reguilón was left out of Spain’s starting eleven to face Switzerland.

The 23-year-old started his country’s previous match on Wednesday evening but had to be replaced at half time during the 0-0 draw against Portugal.

National team boss Luis Garcia revealed after the stalemate that Reguilón picked up a knock during the opening half and would go undergo an assessment by the medical team (EFE).

Ahead of the Nations Group A match against bottom of the table Swizterland, Garcia provided a positive update on the former Real Madrid player’s condition (Alasdair Gold).

Reguilón takes his place among the substitutes for the visit of the Swiss with Valencia’s Jose Gaya replacing him in the team.

Fans will be hoping that Reguilón is fit and healthy for when the club are next in action a week today when we host West Ham United in a London derby.
