Spurs starlet grabs a goal, assist and red card in one game out on loan

Troy Parrott turned out for Excelsior Rotterdam for the first time since the start of March, after recovering from a hamstring issue, and managed to register a goal and an assist for his temporary team in a huge win. But, he also picked up a red card, despite no longer being on the pitch.

It has been a fairly impressive year for Parrott on loan with the Dutch side this season, and the Spurs man now has eight goals and four assists to his name for the campaign (Transfermarkt).

While Excelsior have been languishing around the relegation zone in the Eredivisie, Parrott has done his reputation no harm.

Whether that will be enough to catch the eye of Ange Postecoglou ahead of next season remains to be seen. According to a recent report from Football Insider, Spurs would be open to selling Parrott this summer, with several Bundesliga clubs thought to be interested.

A goal, an assist, and a red card for Troy Parrott

His latest display has certainly caught the eye, and will only serve to ramp up that interest from Germany. Here’s what Alasdair Gold had to say on the impressive comeback performance from Parrott on Friday night.

He tweeted: “An eventful night for Troy Parrott after retuning from injury for Excelsior Rotterdam in their 4-0 win against Volendam, with a goal, assist and a red card at the end of the game, long after he had been substituted.”

While the goal and assist are to be celebrated, Parrott could not help himself getting involved in a fracas deep into injury time. The young striker entered the field of play and was adjudged to have struck an opponent in the face (or ear).

The red card seems a little harsh from what I can tell from the footage, but at the end of the day, you can’t touch anyone near the face and he should not have got involved at all anyway. Still, a goal and an assist on his comeback is good to see.
