Spurs striker stripped of his first team number

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has been stripped of his first team number following speculation of a move away from the club.

Janssen, who previously wore the prestigious number 9 shirt, has not been allocated another first team squad number.

The Dutch forward spent last season on loan to Fenerbahce, who are favourites to take the 24-year-old on another deal.

It is not yet clear whether this will be a loan move, or a more permanent transfer.

Since joining Tottenham, Janssen endured a stuttering 2016/17 campaign, scoring only two goals in 27 appearances for the club.

Spurs signed the Dutch striker from AZ for a fee of around £17m, but he was unable to hit the ground running at the Lane.

However, his impressive record at previous clubs may be enough to tempt Fenerbahce, or another team into procuring his services.
