Spurs summer signing reveals he feels ‘very loved’ at the club already

Bryan Gil has revealed that he already feels very loved at Tottenham Hotspur but admitted he still has plenty of work to do acclimatise to the demands of the Premier League.

Gil has arguably been the player who has impressed the most out of the new summer arrivals at Tottenham.

The tricky winger has shown plenty of promise in the Premier League and the Europa Conference League and was praised by some Spurs fans for his second-half cameo in the North London Derby despite the Lilywhites failing to a 3-1 defeat.

Gil started the 5-1 win over NS Mura on Thursday and will be hoping that he did enough to retain a place in the lineup for Sunday’s clash against Aston Villa.

The silky left-footer admitted that he finds the Premier League to be enjoyable and is keen to adapt quickly to English football.

Gil told Tottenham’s official website: “Here in England it is football with much more rhythm.

“I have to keep adapting myself to the Premier League and to the rhythm of the matches here, but it is still very beautiful and very enjoyable football.

“I hope I can adapt myself 100 per cent, get minutes, get the confidence of everyone and contribute everything I can from my side.”

“I am so happy to be here. My teammates, the coaching staff and the Club, they have given me a great welcome and from the first day, I felt very loved.

“I am trying to learn the language, it is difficult for me, but I think it will be good for me to learn a new language and have this experience here in London.”

The 20-year-old also insisted that he and his teammates are looking to put their recent disappointments behind them and are focused on turning things around over the coming weeks.

He added: “For the team and our fans, we have to stay calm. We are working on our mistakes, we cannot change what has happened (with recent Premier League defeats to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal) but what we can change is the mistakes that we made and I am sure that we will win on Sunday again.”

With Moura now back in action, I cannot see Gil starting as part of the front three if Nuno persists with a 4-3-3 against Villa. So, unless the Portuguese coach decides to play the Spaniard in midfield, he might have to settle for a place on the bench. The 20-year-old could prove a useful impact substitute off the bench on Sunday.
