Spurs target claims current club is just an ‘intermediate step’

Football London report that Tottenham were interested in signing Borussia Moenchengladbach striker Alassane Plea in the summer, and may now have a chance to do just that.

Ironically, the forward has issued a namesake plea to get a move away from his current club to a Champions League outfit.

Plea has already scored an impressive 12 goals this season, a similar rate to Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Football London say that West Ham and Newcastle were also both interested in the player last summer while he was at Nice, but he eventually signed for his current German side.

The clinical finisher actually scored a hat trick on his debut for the club in the German Cup, before going on to score five in the next seven games.

Plea has admitted that Champions League is the ultimate aim for him, and if he can’t achieve this at Gladbach, then he may have to look elsewhere.

Plea told Canal+ (as reported by Goal): “Yes, there are plans, we always want to play in the best clubs.

“I wanted to pass an intermediate step and that’s why I came here. It’s up to me to be good, and try to find a super club and play the Champions League.”
