Tottenham target Sebastian Bassong has been fined by two weeks’ wages by Newcastle United.

The defender failed to travel to Scotland for Newcastle’s friendly against Dundee United on Sunday.

Bassong is said to favour a move to White Hart Lane, but Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa are all rumoured to be interested in the 23-year-old who is valued at around £10million.

The former French Under-21 international earns around £12,000 a week at St James’s Park.
