Spurs target’s teammate admits player could leave this summer

Rumoured Tottenham target Manuel Locatelli deserves to make a big move this summer, according to his Sassuolo teammate Francesco Caputo.

Locatelli’s consistent displays in the heart of midfield have been a key reason behind Sassuolo’s improved displays over recent years.

The 23-year-old has taken his impressive Serie A form into international football, being one of Italy’s most impressive performers in their European Championship campaign so far.

It was reported last week by Gazzetta Dello Sport that Tottenham’s new managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, wanted to bring the Sassuolo star to North London.

Juventus are also said to hold an interest in the midfielder, with the Serie A giants reportedly hoping to sign him on a loan deal with an obligation to buy (Fabrizio Romano).

Whether or not Spurs win the race for Locatelli’s signature, he appears to be on his way out of Sassuolo, with Caputo now speaking about the club’s need to replace the midfielder.

The experienced striker told Sky Italia (as relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb): “The market will bring news but we have behind us an important company that can also make up for the possible departure of Locatelli.

“It’s only fair that Manuel goes to play in teams that aim to win trophies.”

One thing to keep in mind with respect to our rumoured interest in the likes of Locatelli and Spinazzola is that their values could skyrocket if Italy go all the way in the Euros, which Roberto Mancini’s side certainly look capable of doing.
