Spurs to make controversial recruitment head appointment

The club have been actively searching for a new head of recruitment following last years departure of Paul Mitchell.

And following secret clear the air talks, Daniel Levy looks set to appoint former central defender Sol Campbell to that role.

The ex England man famously left White Hart Lane on a free transfer for arch rivals Arsenal back in 2001 and is still very much a hated figure amongst the Tottenham faithful.

However this has not deterred Levy who is prepared to risk the wrath of the fans in order to give the club what he thinks is the best possible chance of maintaining a top four presence and consistently challenging for the league title and the move has been sanctioned by Mauricio Pochettino.

Levy firmly believes the day to day running should left to Pochettino but everything else is just a distraction and by hiring Campbell, Levy believes a lot of pressure will be taken off his manager so he can solely concentrate on coaching his talented squad.

Negotiations with Campbell will continue after the Easter weekend and Spurs hope to make a formal announcement at some stage next week.

What do you think about the impending arrival of Campbell? A controversial move from Levy for sure. Let us know your thoughts.
